Our story

Volcanic glass, cut and polished by hand

Obsidian forms when volcanic lava cools fast, before crystals can grow — a deep, glassy black. Our boards are sawn from that stone, bevelled and hand-polished over days until the edge glides. Each board keeps its natural striations, so no two are alike.

Where it comes from

Good to know

How often should I use it?

As often as you like — many people make it a slow few minutes each evening. There is no minimum or maximum; it is meant to be a calm, unhurried moment, not a routine to keep up.

Is the obsidian real?

Yes — each board is cut from natural volcanic obsidian and hand-polished. Because it is a natural stone, you will see fine striations and no two boards are identical.

Do I need the oil?

Not strictly, but a little oil makes the board glide much more smoothly and comfortably. Our facial oil is a light jojoba and camellia blend made for the ritual.

Is it safe for my skin?

Gua sha is a gentle practice and the board is smooth and polished. Always use it on oiled, clean skin with light pressure, and avoid broken or irritated areas. It is a cosmetic ritual, not a medical one.

How do I care for the stone?

Rinse with lukewarm water and mild soap, then dry. Obsidian is a natural glass — keep it away from hard surfaces and drops, and store it in its pouch.

How do I use a gua sha board?

Warm the board in your hands, apply a few drops of facial oil, and press the smooth edge against the skin, stroking gently outward along the cheeks and jaw. A light, slow touch is all it needs.
